RECOGNITION & AWARDS - JUNE 26, 2013

BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES :

Don Sharman celebrated his birthday on May 24th and his 61st anniversary on June 14 -- Congratulations, Don! 

Charles Mounzer's birthday on June 27 was a day away, but he got targeted anyway -- and succeeded in foiling President Jack's attempt to fine him by answering his trivia question correctly!

AWARDS:

President Jack took the opportunity at his last meeting to thank everyone who contributed to a successful year for Orinda Rotary. He invited those who served as Committee and/or Event Chairs to the front to present them with Rotary embossed mugs --  including a lovely bouquet of flowers.  He next invited all of the Board Members to the front of the room and presented each with a Rotary emblazoned camp chair -- complete with cup holders!  He expressed his sincere gratitude to all for their dedication and commitment to Rotary.  He gave special recognition to Jose Avelar for his years of service to Orinda Rotary and for being our "International Ambassador" -- consistently reaching out beyond Orinda to do good deeds in the world.  Jose gave a very inspriational response about why he joined Rotary and what it has meant to him to know that he has made a difference in the lives of those he has reached through his service.  President Jack also reiterated his recognition of Gary Wong as Orinda's Rotarian of the Year -- for his willingness to jump in immediately to perform the all-important task of Treasurer and for his interest in the recruitment and retention of club members.
