Jerry and Sigrid Seibert were married in 1957 and celebrated 56 years if marriage in August.  Jerry met Sigrid while she was attending Pharmacy School at the University of Chicago.  She was too beautiful to resist! Congratulations, you love birds!

Gene Gottfried met lovely wife Phyllis in exotic Barbados while he served as an officer in the Navy.  She was there teaching Math on a Fulbright Scholarship. Their brains (and hearts) collided and they were later married in New York City.  It's been 56 years.  We wish you many more!

YEARS OF SERVICE:

Jerry Seibert joined Orinda Rotary 23 years ago at the suggestion of friend and pharmacist, Harvey Kamian.  Jerry had been a member of Rotary in Oakland, but couldn't resist our charms once he attend our club's meetings.

A warm welcome to Sylvia Hua! Sylvia attended her requisite 3 meetings and in spite of everything, still wanted to join!  Yeah, Sylvia!  We are delighted to have this PhD biochemist and look forward to getting to know her better!

ANNIVERSARIES:

Dan Gannett celebrated 23 years with his better half, Renie, up at Lake Tahoe hiking up Squaw Peak and dining at El Toro Bravo in Truckee. These childhood sweethearts met at Miramonte and now how a son entering Notre Dame!  Congrats, Dan and Renie!

Weylin and Rose Eng vacationed in Hawaii -- where they wed 46 years ago.  They met in the dorm at UC Berkeley -- she was having trouble with her contact lens (a likely story!!).

Frank and Rhonda Darling met at Sacramento State and tied the knot 42 years ago. The years have been good to both of them -- seeing as how they celebrated by hiking Barker Pass up at Lake Tahoe (where they ran into Steve Smith -- how romantic!)

Art Roth met lovely wife Edie at UC Davis in the 60's -- but he was a bit slow on the uptake.  They celebrated their 24th anniversary in style by going "glamping" (luxury camping) up at MacKerricher State Park on the coast in Mendocino County.

MISCELLANEOUS AWARDS:

Welcome back, Dick Burkhalter! Dick and wife Betty spent their summer as usual up in Shingletown ensconced in the woods at their family cabin. Dick (ever the devoted Rotarian) was awarded his 10-year pin from the Shingletown Lion's Club.  Good job, Dick!

Gary Wong traveled to Cinncinati, Ohio where he received the Presidential Award from Toastmaster's International for his many years of outstanding service to their organization.  Congrats, Gary!
