President Sue thanked the volunteers who helped out at the NorCal Kids Triathalon on August 31 -- Dick Burkhalter, Jack Bontemps, Sylvia Hua, Lance Cowles, Joyce Hawkins.

Barbara Bontemps gave the weekly report on "Dancing with the Cars," and mentioned some of the wonderful auction items that will be included in the evening --  PROCEEDS OF WHICH WILL BENEFIT ORINDA ROTARY.  They include:

  • A fabulous weekend of food and exclusive wine tastings high atop the Alexander Valley at the magnificent Croft Vineyard -- a private estate of incomparable beauty -- donated by Art and Edie Roth
  • A week in the French countryside in your own beautifully restored farmhouse in the midst of the Gaillac -- one of that country's finest wine regions and within easy driving of historic medieval towns and the lovely city of Toulouse.
  • Tickets to the final round of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, 2014
  • A rollicking mystery party for 9 couples to be held at the Quarry House at Wilder, and much more....

Tickets are going fast!  If you are interested in reserving your spot act now!  Tickets are $100 per person -- $75 is tax deductible ($125 for a reserved table/$100 deductible) and checks can be made payable to Orinda Rotary.  Give them to Barbara and she will make sure your spot is reserved!

Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up on Thursday, September 19 and on the day of the dinner, Friday, September 20.  Please see Jack or Barbara if you would like to help.

Lance Cowles announced that he is assisting Steve Paddock in handling this year’s Tom Fitch fishing outing on San Pablo Reservoir.  Please sign up to go out and have a great morning and lunch with the kids.   You do not need to be a fisherman to participate.

Sue asked for volunteers to help set up for the Lamorinda Idol final competition at the Orinda Theater on September 8.   Set up begins for the finals at 7:00 a.m. and the finals continue on all day long at the theater.

Sue reminded us that we will all be participating this year in procuring great speakers for our meetings.  If you have an idea for a speaker, share it with Sue.  It is great speakers that make great meetings!
