May 9, 2013 was the first day that the Rotary Club of Orinda held its regular Wednesday meeting at the Orinda Country Club. The meeting was packed, and the members appeared to be a bit excited to be meeting in the new environs.
President Jack introduced us to Greg Davis, the General Manager of the Orinda Country Club. Greg provided a brief history of the club, and then introduced us to the club’s executive chef, John Townsend. John told us that he hails from Brentwood, and that our menus will always include the freshest foods available that are locally grown and harvested by farmers whom is has gotten to know.
Mark Roberts from Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary Club visited us and announced the “Motorama” Gala and car show fundraisers that his club is sponsoring. The Gala consists of wine, dinner, dancing and an auction that will be held on May 18, 2013 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Lafayette. The Car Show will be held on June 2016, 2013 on Golden Gate Way in Lafayette. The proceeds from these events benefit the Lafayette Library and Learning Center and various local community projects. Sue Breedlove announced that the Orinda Film Festival is on, and that Mickey Rooney will be a guest of honor.
Frank Brunetti invited us all once again to join us for bocce ball on June 8th in Martinez and reminded us that spouses, children and friends are welcome to play.
Kevin Merrick reminded us that Rotary Field day was coming up on May 11th and asked for everyone to pitch in to make it a success.
