President Jack announced that incoming President Sue Breedlove called a meeting to review our club's dues structure and history with the intention of exploring whether a reduction might be possible given our recent move to OCC.  After discussing the issue, it was recommended that we ask Treasurer Gary Wong to look at our operating budget and examine the impact if a reduction was implemented.  Gary assured the Board that the budget could support a reduction of $100 per member. The Board subsequently voted to reduce the annual dues from $425 to $325.  Dues statements have been sent out, reflecting this welcome adjustment.

On behalf of Orinda Rotary, Barbara Bontemps is chairing the "Dancing with the Cars" fundraiser, which will be part of the Orinda Classic Car Show, the weekend of September 20-22.  THIS IS AN ORINDA ROTARY FUNDRAISING EVENT!  The dinner, to be held Friday, September 20, is Orinda's largest community-wide fundraiser -- and it benefits Orinda Rotary, along with EFO, the Orinda Association and other Orinda non-profits. Tickets for "Dancing with the Cars" are priced at $100 and include an open bar, dinner, dancing, and a live auction with 10 very special items.  Barbara is putting together teams to assist with food and beverages, serving, and set-up and clean-up.  The car show takes place on September 21 and volunteers will be needed to guide visitors, pass out information, etc.  On September 22, the movie Gone in 60 Seconds  will be shown and volunteers will be needed to bartend.  Please let Barbara know if you are interested in helping out.

Dan Lawrence thanked all who participated in the big Rotary Bocce Ball Tournament in Martinez on June 8.  Thirteen Orinda Rotarians showed up, fielding 3 teams.  All three teams made the quarter finals, with 2 teams making the semi finals.  Go teams!
