ANNOUNCEMENTS - JULY 24, 2014

Joyce Hawkins introduced biochemist Sylvia Hua, who was back for her third visit.  Sylvia is on track to become an Orinda Rotarian and has submitted her application.

Harvey Kamian returned to us after an extended illness.  He received a hearty welcome back and a round of applause.

President Sue reminded us about Bob Wise's memorial on Saturday, July 27 from 4 to 6:00 p.m. and asked for a show of hands of those planning to attend. She also reminded us that another Celebration of Life is being held for Ed King on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's church in Orinda.

She also read two heartfelt thank-you notes from our Miramonte scholarship and Camp Royal beneficiaries.

Our first TGIF Fellowship Night is Friday, July 26 at the Breedloves.

Our October 9 meeting will be held at La Piazza, courtesy of Charles Mounzer.

Another fun "Rotary Day at the Races" will be held November 16 at Golden Gate Fields.  This was a lovely (and lucky for some!) day in the Turf Club.  Mark your calendars!  

David Pierce has confirmed that the Rotary Reno Train Trip will be held the weekend of February 28 to March 2, 2014.  The change to a weekend date should attract more Rotarians from throughout the District.

Dick Marchick gave his final reminder for Opera in the Park. "Seniors Around Town" will be bringing 30 guests to the performance.
