President Sue thanked everyone who participated in the 4th of July parade and all of the volunteers who helped man the Rotary Beer Booth -- especially Lance Cowles -- for getting the beer donated and racking up more than $1,700 in sales! Great job!

Dick Marchick reminded everyone to mark their calendars for Opera in the Park on July 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Orinda Community Center Park.  He still needs volunteers to assist with setting up and manning the food booth.  He also has event posters and postcards for those willing to hand them out and/or display them.  It's going to be a terrific afternoon that includes principal singers from some of our noted Bay Area opera companies.  They will be performing well-known arias as well as popular hits from Broadway musicals.

Barbara Bontemps announced that tickets for our "Dancing with the Cars" fundraising dinner and auction are now on sale! This event -- has a "Roaring Twenties/Great Gatsby" theme and will be held September 20th at the Orinda Community Center and Library Plaza. It is being produced by our club and will feature an exquisite collection of cars from the 1920's and 1930's, all-inclusive dinner, a live auction, plus dancing. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Orinda Rotary, as well as EFO, the Orinda Association's "Seniors Around Town"  transportation program, the Orinda Arts Council, Orinda Historical Society and more. Tickets for open seating are $100 each ($75 is tax deductible) -- or you can become a table sponsor with reserved seating by getting a group together to reserve seats for $125 and up.  It was a sell-out last year, so make your reservations now!
