ROTARY ANNUAL EGG HUNT A HUGE SUCCESS!

Without doubt, the biggest event for our Club last week was the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26th.. Several hundred kids - and their parents - gathered on the lawn of the Orinda Community Center for this eggstravaganza. A dozen Rotarians had "hidden" several pounds of
colorful eggs on the lawn - although they weren't really hidden because the grass had been mowed a few days before, so all were in plain sight! At 11 o'clock sharp, Dick Burkhalter opened the hunt for the eggsited children- and it took less than two minutes before the lawn was picked clean of all eggs (see image below). You could see kids brimming with wide smiles, when they presented their little baskets full off eggs. To assuage the feelings of those who didn’t find any eggs or were disappointed that they didn’t win the bigger prizes, our Club had arranged for a visit of the largest Easter Bunny west of the Sierra Nevada (thanks Dan Gannett!). Not only did he expertly comfort the kids, he also patiently posed for photos with swarms of children before and after the hunt. This scribe suggests that we hire the same guy, stick him in a Santa costume before Christmas and start a new fundraiser: Photos with Rotary Santa. And that's no yoke! The only problem is, this particular bunny doesn't have a white beard (yet!).
