Susan Garell, President of the Orinda Arts Council and this year’s Citizen of the Year, graced our meeting.

Sue Breedlove introduced Kathleen Day-Seiter, known as Kass, of Southworth, Chavez and Day-Seiter, LLD, making her second visitKass’ practice focuses on elder law and estate planning. 

 

THANK YOU: Peirce McKee for running our meeting on August 13 in the absence of President David who was in New York.  Special thanks for the "Grandparent's Game" wherein those of us who stepped up to brag paid $20 for the privlege! Tony Sloane has a record 35 years of perfect attendance!  Thank you, Tony, for your years of dedication to our Club.

ANNIVERSARIES: Don Dierkes and wife Helen celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 7. Not too far behind, Gene and Phyllis Gottfried have 57 years together, followed by Bran and Kathy Yaich with 47 years as of August 10th,  Jose and Marcela Avelar with 34 years on August 3, and August 12 marked Dan and Rennie Gannett’s 24 years together.   Congratulations and continued happiness to all!

BIRTHDAYS: Jose Avelar celebrated his 63rd birthday on August 13 with a lovely dinner prepared by our friend and fellow member, Charles Mounzer. Unfortunately, Jose could not name either composer of the “Star-Spangled Banner” or “God Bless America” (Francis Scott Key and Irving Berlin, respectively)

YEARS OF SERVICE: Sue Breedlove was recognized for her 8 years of service to our club – thanks for all that you do for Rotary! And for the $60!  Clay Deanhardt is a close second with 7 years of service under his belt.  We are happy to have you back, Clay, and thanks to you, also, for your enthusiasm and support!
