President Jack announced that July 26 will be the Annual Awards meeting when members are acknowledged for their contributions to Orinda Rotary. Be there!

 

Weylin Eng was recently recognized by the Family Bridges Asian Social Services Group for his selfless community service. He was presented with the Frank G Mar Award for Community Services by Oakland Mayor Jean Quan at a special recognition dinner. Congratulations and well-deserved, Weylin!

 

Jessica Smith announced that plans are underway for Orinda Rotary’s participation in the July 4 Parade and Celebration. Save the date. More information will be forthcoming. Rotarians marching in the parade should be in the BART east parking lot no later than 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will be needed for the beer booth and information table -- see Lance Cowles for more info.

 

The District 5160 Installation and Awards Dinner will take place July 13 in Woodland. Cost is $35 until July 1st, $45 after. Contact President Jack for details and carpooling information.

The infamous Annual Fishing Trip has taken place. Bran Yaich reported that “the fishing was great but the catching was not.” It turned out to be a golfing trip. Those involved included Kevin Merrick, Gray Eliot, Lynn Cannady, Tony Sloane, and Steve Paddock.

 

Peirce McKee announced the birth of his fourth great granddaughter, Caroline Lorina. In honor of the event, Peirce donated $100 to the Orinda Endowment Fund. Thanks, Peirce!
