For the past 15 years, the Rotary Club of Orinda has hosted 40-50 young members of the Oakland Boys' and Girls' Club on a fishing outing at San Pablo reservoir in honor of former Rotarian Tom Fitch.  For many, this excursion into the Orinda countryside is their first foray outside their urban environment.  It is an opportunity for them to enjoy a day on the water and to try their hands at one of mankind's oldest pastimes.  Our Rotarians provide everything necessary for a grand day of fishing -- boats, poles, lines, tackle, bait -- and nature (or the Department of Fish and Game) provides the fish.  In addition to equipping each boy and girl, teaching them the fundamentals of casting and reeling in one's catch, club members provide a tasty barbeque and an abundance of fish tales!
