It is always a special moment when we can welcome a new Rotarian in our midst. At last week's evening meeting President Weylin bestowed the Rotary Badge on Altie Schmitt. He, his wife Mia, and their three children have lived in Orinda for 14 years, moving here from New York City. He entered the world of real estate with a degree in economics from UCLA. In the Big Apple he focus on residential transactions working for the Corcoran Group, where he was elected to serve on the company's advisory council. He left New York for a two year stint as a broker in San Francisco. Since 2004 Altie has been a real estate broker with Village Associates. When he is not working, Altie is active in the local sport scene. The family joined Sleepy Hollow Swim and Tennis, and he coaches OBA baseball. His wife is working as a school psychiatrist for the San Ramon school district. His oldest son, Alton, is a sophomore at Miramonte, Ava, a freshman at Miramonte, and Tanner, is a second grader at Sleepy Hollow.
