Join us this week as we delve into the fascinating work of crime scene investigations and the impact technology has had on crime solving.  Pamela Hofsass, Division Chief of the Contra Costa County Forensic Services has more than 32 years of experience in law enforcement, fifteen years of which include forensic science, with an emphasis on DNA analysis.
 
As Chief of the Forensic Services Division of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff, Ms. Hofsass oversees a full-service crime laboratory with a 10 million-dollar budget serving over 24 Law Enforcement Agencies and the Sheriff’s Office. She brings to the Crime Lab a keen focus on efficiency and effectiveness in order to assist investigators in real-time. She is a strong proponent of crosstraining her staff and seeking out state-of-the art technology. Pamela served 25 years with the San Francisco Police Department and worked in several assignments; the Academy, the Crime Lab, the CSI Unit, Sexual Assault and Homicide Details and her last post as a Patrol Lieutenant in the Tenderloin. Ms. Hofsass has taught forensic science and crime scene investigations to first responders and detectives through the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation. She has presented workshops and case studies throughout the United States and Canada. She has a BA in Chemistry from Rutgers University and a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from the University of California Davis.
